We now know who was making those phone calls

According to the Inside Dope blog, a Chicago based pro-choice political action committee, Personal Pac, were the organization responsible for phoning voters in the 36th district and mis-representing candidate Paul Rumler's views. The Inside Dope also reports that Personal PAC reports in-kind donations amounting to $27,043.93 to Jacobs' campaign, money spent on a phone campaign telling residents that Jacobs was the only pro-choice candidate in the race. So this phone campaign was a service to the Jacobs campaign and was duly reported as such.

As the Inside Dope points out, we have to assume that Personal Pac made the decision to call voters in the 36th district independently of the Jacobs' campaign because if they did in coordination with it someone would be guilty of a crime. But it seems a strange way for Personal Pac to advance their pro-choice cause. Apparently they see doing favors for pro-choice incumbents as something that will benefit their cause in the long run.

Am I going to apologize for doubting Mike Jacobs' explanation of who made those phone calls. Yes. I apologize for not being cynical enough about Illinois politics to imagine a supposedly pro-choice organization behaving in such a way.

Are you suggesting that this is not a pro choice group. That is rediculous. They support Boland and many others. What are you saying. Jacobs runs this group also. He must be the most powerful man in the State.

Now we have to believe that Rumlers dog ate his homework then what will he say when he has a job with responsibilities. I do know that he took time out of his life to fill out the paperwork for the green party. He recieved the endorsement from them. Jacobs never cried foul on this.

Mike says he is running for "re-election". Yes, I do thin he beleives he ran for the position. He also says politics is a "contact sport". Yes, he believes in being a tough guy. Nothing humble about him. We are selling "democracy" to the rest of the world, sacrificing our children in the process. But many observers in other parts of the world watch how we "elect" and keep our family dynasties together in congress and state governments. Question: Why does Lane Evans endorse candidates in primaries? Why does the local democratic party surreptiously do so? Then become supporters of the winner? Lane Evans should recall he wasn't Winstien and a Gianulus fan in 1988. When is Mike going to learn from Madigan?

anon@9:27 am asks: "Why does Lane Evans endorse candidates in primaries? Why does the local democratic party surreptiously do so?" I'm thinking there isn't much "surreptiously" about it. In today's paper, I saw an ad announcing a fundraiser for Mike Huff, hosted by----Jeff Terronez. Yep, battle lines are being drawn---Democrat office holders are no longer just standing on the sidelines and hoping for the best.

Am I suggesting that this is not a pro-choice group. I am suggesting that, judging from their actions, throwing their weight around and doing favors for incumbents are much higher priorities for them than supporting the pro-choice cause. A group whose highest priority was supporting the pro-choice position would only go into full-force attack mode against someone who was genuinely anti-choice, not someone whose position was unknown but had commited the crime of not showing their group as much respect as their inflated egos demanded.

Dave you are ignorant to the facts. Someone that isn't willing to say out loud to the world that he is for something isn't the type of leaders that organizations arelooking for. Mr.Rumler admits to not sending in the paperwork He didn't want to offend the Catholics that arehis base at Alleman HS. If you are not willing to stand and be counted they will run over you.
The right to life people have been doing this for years.
Do you think Mike Jacobs has this much control over Chicago based co. You are either out of your mind or Jacobs will be runningthe state in no time.

The way to the truth is not through parinoia. First you and the Rumlerites said it was Jacobs himself. When he said it was a Pac group, people said he was lying. Now they still don't believe it. Either you are as ignorant to the workings of Pac groups or you are a troublemaker that is trying to stir the pot to get people to read your site. I hope it is the later. Dave, try and get with it here. If you get a good nights sleep and look at it again with less distortion, maybe you will give a real appology for this slanderous way of thinking. Dave you are a true man to let people say their views rather than censor like the other sites do. James Madison would be proud of you.
