The omniscient Mr. Wooten then tells us he could see the holes "in the argument" regarding Iraq's involvement. Perhaps all of the world's intelligence agencies should have first consulted with our former state senator? Sounds like self-aggrandizement. Really, Mr. Wooten!

Well, Ms. DePorter, any boasting on Mr. Wooten’s part is justified. Here is a quote from his column printed in the Dispatch on January 12, 2003, several months before our invasion.
We are coasting down a slippery slope to war as if it were the clear mandate of an informed electorate, rather than the apparent caprice of an administration badly in need of political cover for its domestic programs.Ms. DePorter's remarks imply a belief that no one publicly disagreed with the Adminstration's assertions before the invasion that Iraq was behind 9/11 and was a threat to us. Her belief is probably a result of the frequent statements to that effect by Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney, which she believes in spite of evidence readily available to her to the contrary. I urge Ms. DePorter to immediately undertake a fundamental reassessment of her personal epistemology.
We are given assertions, not reasons, for invading Iraq. Our suspicions are deep, but our evidence shallow. There is no arguing the massive superiority of our firepower, but there is ample room for debate as to where the application of our weaponry may lead.

I assume that my blog gets fewer comments than your blog because people find less to object to in my entries than in yours. Even the comment I am replying to does not attempt to refute any of my ideas or positions. I notice that you have stopped trying to debate me when I post comments on your blog. That is probably a wise move. You were not winning the argument.
Dave, you are quite right. I've simply given up posting on qcmedia's site. It used to be fun, and there was a nice back and forth, but the way the site's postings began to multiply hydra like, one couldn't keep up with all of it.
Then he also turned a bit mean spirited.
So, I still read it, time to time, to get my blood pressure up, and he sometimes has insightful lines about the media. One can only hope it becomes a better blog.
When it comes, I'll post again.
Until then, keep moving on Dave. I read your blog regualrly and enjoy your thoughts.
BTW, Don Wooten is about the LEAST Self-aggrandizing person that I've ever met.
I quite agree. Mr. Wooten's well-proven ability to toot his own horn at every opportunity really has nothing whatsoever do to with our men and women being killed every day while the administration tries to make the case that keeping more of them there longer (aka surge) is the finest of all possible strategies.
I was probably remiss in not making it clear that I do not think that Mr. Wooten is a self-aggrandizer at all. I listen to his radio program on Saturday mornings and he is always modest and self-deprecating in spite of his life-time of accomplishments and public service.
In normal times a modest and polite person does not say "I told you so!" when events have proven them correct and shown those who disagreed with them to be wrong. But we do not live in normal times. Those who have been proven wrong (tragically and horribly wrong) about Iraq refuse to admit their error and are insisting on compounding and expanding their error at great cost in lives and tax-payer dollars.
Furthmore those who were wrong about Iraq are claiming that everyone else was also wrong and that everyone thought that Saddam Hussein had WMD and posed a danger to us. In such a situation it is absoulutely necessary for those of us who recognized these things as lies when they were first uttered to shout that from the rooftops.
No man is a prophet in his own land.
Of course these shallow lemmings are going to attack Wooten. He's not "tooting his own horn", but simply stating the obvious. That he and millions of others were absolutely correct to express doubts and reservations about the dubious and now proven false claims made by this administration in their stampede to war.
They're just sore because they know they were spineless dupes and don't like anyone pointing out just how deadly wrong they were.
I'm sure there's tens of thousands of greieving family members who wish these unquestioning war cheeleaders had possessed the wisdom of Don Wooten and others like him.
And by the way, why do you even publish oozings like QC Media's attempt at cleverness? It doesn't deserve the electrons it takes to post them IMHO.
And if the guy wants to compare comments or visits as the end all and be all of blogging, have him explain how I beat his ass by a long shot in both catagories.
